TEACHERS DAY
(BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL PERSON A TEACHER’S CONTRIBUTION IS CONSEQUENTAL AND NOTEWORTHY)
Bhubaneswar : (Amandev Mallik, class-10,Convent School,BBSR) – Teacher’s day is the national festival which is celebrated all over India on 5th September but many other countries also celebrate this momentous event on various other dates(For e.g., October 5,‘World Teacher’s Day’). In India because of the birth of Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former president of India, Teacher’s Day is being celebrated. Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September,1988 and was a great person besides being a philosopher, an educationalist, a humanist and a religious thinker. He was also a great teacher whose contributions and efforts had made his students love and respect him the most.He wanted his students to dedicate the day by paying homage to the teachers after his pupils wished him on his birthday.
As per the Hindu tradition of India, ‘Guru Purnima’ is the day when pupils wish their teachers and seek their blessings. As compared to today, in ancient times, the students(shishyas) paid respect to their gurus by paying Guru Dakshina in return for the knowledge given to the students. Our teachers are very kind and lovely to us and are as sweet as a mother is towards her beloved children. Teachers day is celebrated all over India with great excitement and glory due to the respect and love shown towards the teachers.Teaching is one of the most respectable jobs with significance influence and various responsibilities.Teachers profession is not an easy job and is very great for the students because they are ones who become the idol for each and every student. They not only prepare the children to become great citizens of tomorrow but are also the ones who are remembered throughout the life for their great works. The role of the teachers is very vital in our life as the entire community is wholly dependent upon the teachers because it is in their hands only to create or destroy the society. At present, the teachers have overcome the problems and uphold their dignity and responsibilities by various methods and ways of teaching such as the online teaching.
The teachers are working hard day and night just for the sake of the children so as to make the future of the country bright and make them fly with beautiful colours but we as the students are not understanding their dedicated hard work towards us and in return are only disrespecting them whenever they tell us anything. So, we should also take into our consideration the importance of our teachers in our society and must show as much respect as we can towards them. Now,last but not the least,I would like to mention one quote by our honourable former president,Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for the all the teachers in which he says, “The sole purpose of education is to make good human beings with skill and expertise and enlightened human beings can be created only by the teachers.”
